As the milder weather approaches, an attack of sneezes, sniffles and watery eyes are on the way for some – hayfever season is on the way.
The bright green catkins on silver birch trees, that populate any bit of sandy heath, are a welcome sign of spring. But to 25% of hayfever sufferers they’re a warning of symptoms about to strike. Tree pollens hit early, some even in January, but for 95% of hayfever sufferers it’s late May until August (when grass pollens abound) that hayever symptoms really take hold, especially on dry, warm days.
Be prepared
Starting 4-6 weeks before symptoms are expected, try the isopathic approach.This means treating the condition with a minute amount of the substance causing the problem, and for that we have Weleda Mixed Pollen 30C (125 tablets). This mixture of air-borne pollens – from grasses, trees and weeds – is prepared homeopathically, and should generally be taken twice daily.
Soothe
To help clean nasal passages and/or to ease a nose left snore from sneezing and blowing, try Weleda Rhinodoron Nasal Spray (20ml). This can be used along with other homeopathic remedies, and is safe to use on a regular basis.
Top Tips
- To prepare for the months ahead, try the Weleda Hayfever Survival Kit, containing two packs of Mixed Pollen 30C and a pack of Rhinodoron Nasal Spray;
- Try wearing wrap-around sunglasses to stop pollen invading the eyes;
- Keep car windows closed when driving near fields/gardens
- Shower as soon as you’re home to remove pollen from hair and skin.
