Advent marks the start of the coming festive season. A special time of the year for children of all ages. Who can resist the message of the nativity, the gathering together of friends and the celebratory meals shared with family?
Of course, Christmas with a baby in the house is particularly lovely. You naturally want to include your little one in the celebrations alongside the rest of the family. But Christmas cooking can be stressful enough without needing to plan the baby’s menu. To help at this busy time I’ve put together a few Christmas weaning suggestions. You can concentrate on the food for the rest of the family secure in the knowledge you have some tasty, organic treats in store for baby.
Christmas Weaning Meals
When it comes to the traditional meals such as turkey and all the trimmings there’s no reason for your baby or toddler to miss out. Or to compromise on the quality of food you want to give your little one.
Take a look at our seasonal meat offerings:
We also have a fine selection of seasonal meals for vegetarian babies:
And course, don’t forget the trimmings:
While we won’t be feeding our babies the Christmas pudding just yet, we do have some fantastic fruit purees that will slip down a treat:
Of course, as with all the Holle baby food ranges you have peace of mind that you are feeding your baby only the best:
- Certified organic or even biodynamic -no pesticides or other chemical nasties;
- Gluten free -ideal for first weaning meals;
- Free from sugar, salt, colourings and preservatives -these have no place in baby food;
- Prepared using gentle cooking methods -to keep the most goodness for your baby.
I hope all Ulula customers and site visitors have a wonderful Christmas and are able to take some time to relax with their families and friends. Very best of the new seasons greetings.
Sabine
PS. A treat for mums and dads too
Just to help me get in the Christmas spirit while writing this email I’ve been nibbling on a few of our Organic Vanilla Spelt Crescents. Believe me when I say they are absolutely gorgeous. They were our bestselling biscuits for adults last year and I can see why. Pop a packet or two in your basket and you won’t regret it. After all, Christmas isn’t just for children!

A very quick post today with further updates on Holle organic baby food in jars.
As we mentioned in a previous article towards the end of April, the certified biodynamic chicken in the popular Holle Organic Pumpkin and Chicken jars is currently almost impossible to source on the continent and we are currently out of stock.
Unfortunately, our remaining stock of our Organic Meat Baby Weaning Lunches (3x Organic Pumpkin and Chicken and 3 x Potatoes, Corn and Beef) is now also depleted. We apologise to all those mums and dads who have contacted us asking for their baby’s favourite meat weaning recipes – Holle are not currently able to give us a delivery date as they are not yet able to source the chicken to the high quality that they demand for their baby foods. We will keep you posted as we hear news.
In the meantime, as you will see from yesterday’s blog post, Holle have released their Finest Organic Beef baby jars. These particular baby jars have a very high meat content and are intended to be used as an accompaniment to a vegetable or grain based meal, not as a meal in itself. You only need to use half a jar at a time, making them excellent value for money.
Holle have today told me that they intend to release a similarly high meat content turkey jar as an additional meat accompaniment, for those parents wanting to introduce high quality organic meat into their baby’s weaning diet. As always, we will keep you posted.
What organic baby weaning recipes would you like to see Holle include in their jarred range? Let us know and we’ll pass it on.

Holle have recently introduced two new organic baby food jars to their ever increasing range of simple, wholesome and natural recipes. Ulula is please to be the exclusive UK supplier for these new baby jars and our initial taste tests amongst family and friends show they deserve to be real weaning winners.
Holle Organic Finest Beef

Holle organic beef meat baby jar
The Holle Organic Finest Beef baby jars are not intended to be a complete meal in itself, but rather are to be used as a meat accompaniment to your homemade baby weaning recipes or to mix into a jar of one of Holle’s great pureed vegetable baby jars and/or one of their organic baby porridges. Please only use half a jar for a single meal – you can safely store the other half for the next day in the fridge (below 5°) – making these meat jars excellent value for money.
The organic beef used in these jars is of premium Swiss origin and is from cows that have been raised in pastures that have been organically cultivated for decades. Holle has close relationships with its farmers and will only work with those whose high quality standards meet their demanding expectations and that rear their animals in the most humane and natural way.
Holle Pumpkin With Rice
These lovely jars were firm favourites with our testers whose babies loved the mild pumpkin flavour of this recipe – one mum even placed an order for three cases before her daughter had finshed the meal!
The Holle Organic Pumpkin and Rice is ideal if, as can sometimes happen, your baby has developed a tendency to constipation after introducing root vegetables like carrots – switching to pumpkin as a weaning vegetable for your baby is usually then recommended.

It’s a bank holiday today so just a quick post with a lovely recipe tip sent in by customer Janice M.
Have leftover fruit purees from weaning your baby? Blend fruit purees with yoghurt (or coconut milk), water (or juice) and ice to make smoothies for the rest of the family.
We’ve tried this using purees made with the Ulula glass grater as well as some of the Holle organic fruit baby jars and they are lovely. Perfect for this warm weather. Enjoy!

A quick, fun post today. Regular reader of Sabine’s Organic Baby Food Blog will know that I am passionate about re-using and recycling materials. And of course, all customers will see that I always try to recycle packing materials when Ulula sends out orders.
I am always curious as to just how much of what we send out goes on to be recycled once finished with. For example, do customers recycle the packaging that our baby foods come in? I recently came across the amazing picture below showing just how inventive people can be when it comes to recycling baby food jars. Yes, it really is a chandelier made with baby food jars! Apparently it is practically all made from recycled materials and cost just a few pounds to make.

Baby food jar chandelier
Of course not everyone, myself included, is creative enough or has the skills, materials or even inclination to make a chandelier from baby food jars!
I have, though, come across some other, more down to earth, suggestions. How about using the baby food jars as containers for dried herbs in the kitchen? Or as paint pots for older children?
Do you just put your empty organic baby food jars in the recycle bin, or are you a little more creative with them? Share your thoughts and ideas.
PS. If any reader is really curious how to make a baby food jar chandelier, get in touch and I’ll let you have the instructions.

When we receive orders at Ulula we do often wonder about the babies and families our food goes to feed. So it is always great to hear from mums and dads – we love to hear how your babies like the food as well as any comments you have on our service and the website.
Thanks to Victoria who sent us the following feedback, along with a photo of her baby daughter Matilda – what a lovely baby!
Dear Sabine
I have recently received my order from you and just wanted to say a huge thank you for supplying Holle in the UK. My four month old daughter, Matilda, absolutely adores all of them, from the baby porridges to the puddings! In fact, her nursery staff have today informed me that she was very upset that they didn’t feed her quick enough today!!!! She’s sleeping better, she loves the baby tea and is generally on top of the world! She has recently had tonsilitus and the organic tea has managed to relax her just before bed. I shall mail you some photos of Matilda eating Holle as you won’t believe the state she gets in, thank goodness it’s organic and is probably good for her skin!!!!!!
(By the way, my 7 year old tried the pudding too today and he loves it!!!!!)
I am sure she will soon finish the food that I have ordered and can’t wait to purchase some more from you.
I also wanted to say thank you for your kind note you put on the invoice, it’s so nice to receive such a personal service from you.
I am looking forward to dealing with you more in the future.
With kind regards
Victoria

Special announcement for those with babies who like the meat-based baby food in jars. The certified biodynamic chicken in the ever popular Holle Organic Pumpkin and Chicken jars is currently almost impossible to source on the continent.
As a result, the Holle Organic Pumpkin and Chicken jars are (in extremely short supply) no longer available. We do still have a few of our Organic Meat Baby Weaning Lunches (3x Organic Pumpkin and Chicken and 3 x Potatoes, Corn and Beef) left but once they are gone we will sadly have to remove them from the store. For all your beef loving babies we do have a plentiful supply of the Holle Organic Potatoes, Corn and Beef.
Holle sources tell us that they are working closely with the biodynamic farmers from whom they source their chickens and will let us know as soon as the Organic Pumpkin and Chicken baby jars production restarts.

Holle's new organic pure apple - perfect by itself or stirred into baby porridge
We are pleased to let you know that we now stock Holle’s latest additions to their comprehensive range of jarred organic baby food. They are:
In the interests of keeping our customers informed, the Ulula team as well as our family and friends always taste test any new products that we stock and these new baby jars were no exception. As usual the finely pureed texture is just right for even newly weaning babies, and ensures the baby food is easily digestible.
All the jars taste superb – this is due not only to the fact that the raw fruits and vegetables used in the jars were organically, if not biodynamically grown, but also to the very gentle cooking methods that Holle uniquely use in making all their organic baby foods.

We think these new baby jars are a lovely addition to our baby food range – give them a try and let us know what you think.
