About Ulula Organic Baby Food & the Demeter Mark
Since its beginning, Ulula has aimed to offer premium organic baby food and baby/ family products produced by organic/ biodynamic agriculture. For the well-being of your child, quality and naturalness come first in our philosophy.
Ulula independently sources organic baby foods and organic baby care products from experienced and long-term established suppliers with up to 80 years of expertise. Their experience and knowledge of nutritional science, establishes the basis you can depend on.
Whenever possible our organic baby foods are made with Demeter (biodynamic) raw ingredients. Only products which meet the stringent and far reaching quality of certified biodynamic farming, can carry the ‘Demeter’ label.
What Makes Biodynamic Baby Food Unique?
Holistic Demeter requirements exceed government regulations. Not only do they exclude the use of synthetic fertilisers and chemical plant protection agents in agricultural crop production and artificial additives during processing, but also require very specific measures to strengthen the life processes in soil and food. Demeter farmers and processors actively contribute towards the shaping of a future worth living for. They create healthy foods of distinctive tastes - truly "Organic Foods with Character". Demeter – is the label you can trust.
The Demeter farmer makes allowances for the specific peculiarities of plants and animals and views a farm as a living organism of the natural cycle. Special organic ingredients including organic medicinal herbs (stinging nettles, dandelions, etc.) are sprayed onto fields and composts. Therefore ingredients develop strong and vital energy, similar to homeopathic medicine. Growth after seeding follows the biological rhythm of each particular plant.
Biodynamic pastures and meadows contain an abundance of herbs and produce rich and healthy fodder for the animals, who in turn provide milk and meat of the highest quality. Decades of scientific research - as carried out at the Swiss FIBL Research Institute and others - provide positive proof that the biodynamic preparations promote humus formation and help return to the environment some of the vital forces that otherwise, even with the best of organic care, gradually become exhausted. It is thus that the biodynamic farming method achieves its renowned product quality and lasting results.

For decades, researchers have been working to visibly depict the special aspects of biodynamically produced foods.
Through scientific examination it has been made possible to see the specific atypical characteristics of the product's inner qualities. With this method, in filigree-like pictures, not only the differences between conventional and organic, but also between organic and biodynamic products can be distinguished. This specific order, which is more than a purely material phenomenon, distinguishes not only Demeter quality in raw products like apples, potatoes, grains, and carrots, but also in Demeter-processed liquids like juice or milk. When processing enhances, then it actually furthers the intrinsic characteristics of the raw product. Thus humans can receive true nourishment that not only fills the stomach, but can also strengthen the one-ness of body, soul, and spirit. Holle Organic & Biodynamic Baby Food
In 1933, the company Holle was established as an organic baby food manufacturer.
Since the beginning, all chemicals and preservatives have been removed without compromise. Holle is based on the Swiss - German border. For the last 35 years, Holle Baby Food has been sold throughout Switzerland and Europe (in health food shops, pharmacies, and organic retailers).
The production of organic infant milk formula and grain products takes place in Germany. The baby food products are produced in Switzerland. Our production areas follow the newest technology, demands and certification (ISO). These standards are implemented in the preparation of the formula and cereal meals containing grain that originates mainly from German organic farms, all of which are run by farmers who are organically and biodynamically certified (Demeter). The grain is grown from rich, pesticide-free and herbicide-free soil that has been nourished and prepared organically. The only additional organic ingredients from overseas are rice from Italy and millet from Hungary.
To benefit your child, we only choose carefully selected Demeter grain from organic farmers with whom Holle has had a close working relationship for many years.
The full cream milk used for infant formula originates from Allgäu (the Southern German alps) and Austria. In the Holle jar food selection specific organic vegetables, fruit and meat are used from organic or Demeter farms. The resulting product is one especially beneficial for infants and small children.
ErdmannHAUSER Organic & Biodynamic Baby Food
ErdmannHAUSER is a German company and produces its own brand baby foods to Demeter (biodynamic) standards.
The company works closely with farmers and growers and supports the development of new Demeter grain varieties. With each ErdmannHAUSER product sold a percentage is used to fund independent organic/Demeter growers.
Weleda Organic & Biodynamic Body and Skin Care
In 1921, Weleda pioneered the use of biodynamic and organic ingredients in the personal care industry.
Since this time, Weleda has adhered to these original quality standards, continuing to use biodynamic and organic ingredients to create its unique preparations. All formulations are free of synthetic preservatives, fragrances, colorants and parabens, and the ingredients and finished products are never tested on animals.
Weleda's pure plant extracts and ingredients are harvested throughout the world, either from our own gardens, or through contractual partnerships with farmers. We work with local farmers, helping them to convert their conventional farms into sustainable, organic agriculture.
