Description

Lettuce are super easy to grow and are perfect for growing with little children as they grow quickly and they can pick individual leaves off the plant themselves. The gorgeous red-tinged bronze leaves of this lovely loose-leaf lettuce look very pretty in a salad mixed with other leaves. Very slow to bolt, this reliable variety is a cut-and-come-again lettuce, so you can pick the outer leaves over several weeks and the heart continues producing more. Sowing a few seeds at fortnightly intervals ensures you get a regular supply, rather than 20 lettuce all ready to eat at the same time! For spring to autumn cultivation.

Info & Care

Indoor Sowing: Sow seeds from February in seed trays in the greenhouse or on a windowsill. Harden off before planting out.
Outdoor Sowing: Sow outdoors from March until the end of July in shallow drills, either in containers or in the open ground, thinning seedlings to 25cm apart.
Growing instructions: Protect from slugs and cover early sowings with a cloche. For easy to harvest cut-and-come-again salads, cut when leaves reach 8 - 10cm tall for baby leaves, or allow to grow.  Leaves should be ready 6-8 weeks from sowing and give leaves for about 3 months. Harvest the outer leaves so the plant can continue to grow.
