Description
Lettuces are super easy to grow and small enough to grow on your windowsill. They are perfect for growing with little children as they grow quickly and they can pick individual leaves off the plant themselves. A well-loved. small, fast maturing lettuce with crisp leaves and a sweet flavour, Little Gem can be grown outdoors throughout the growing season and also in early autumn and winter under cloches. Sowing a few seeds at fortnightly intervals ensures you get a regular supply, rather than 20 lettuce all ready to eat at the same time!

Indoor Sowing: Sow seeds from February in seed trays in the greenhouse or on a windowsill. Harden off before planting out.
Outdoor Sowing: Sow outdoors from March in shallow drills, either in containers or in the open ground, thinning seedlings to 25cm apart.
Growing instructions: Protect from slugs and cover early sowings with a cloche. To harvest, dig up the entire plant and cut it off at the base.
