Werz Organic Wholegrain Buckwheat Flakes (gluten free) Werz Organic Buckwheat Flakes are gluten free and can be used for cooking breakfast porridge, added in soups, sauces or together with vegetables. Buckwheat has a mild nutty flavour and contains the essential amino acid lysine which rarely occurs in most grains.
Basic preparation: Bring liquid of your choice to boil, add Werz Organic Buckwheat Flakes and stir well. Cook for about one minute, cover and leave to soak for another 3-5 minutes.

Werz Organic Quinoa (gluten free) Quinoa is ideal for gluten free cooking. It can be used in many dishes, such as soups or even as side dish instead of potatoes, pasta or rice. Quick to prepare, easy to digest, not heavy and yet still satisfying. See below for basic preparation.
Quinoa is a plant which grows in the Andes and has been used already by the Incas. The seeds are rich in vitamins and nutrients e.g. magnesium,iron,copper,phosphorus and riboflavin (B1).
Rinse with cold water before cooking. Bring one part quinoa and two parts water to the boil, add vegetable stock, dried herbs and simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the water is absorbed. Ready to serve with vegetables or a sauce of your choice. Ideal for adding to soups.

Werz Organic Millet (gluten free) Millet is one of the oldest cultivated cereal grains in the world and is very rich in unsaturated fatty acids. This gluten free grain has a significant amount of minerals, vitamins and trace elements - in particular silicic acid, which influences the healthy growths of bones, hair, nails and skin.
Organic millet is easy to cook: just cook 1 part of the millet grain (allow approx 100g per person) with two parts water or stock, until the water is absorbed and season with herbs.
Serve with vegetables or a tomato-based sauce. Nutritious and filling. Good value for money if you have to feed a family and ideal for those with a gluten intolerance.
Sabine's tip for a summer recipe: cook the millet in vegetable stock with some mixed herbs and a dash of tomato puree, leave to cool, add cucumber cubes, yoghurt or tsatsiki and season with lots of dill.

Werz Cream of Tartar Baking Powder (gluten free) Gluten Free Cream of Tartar Baking Powder (For our German customers: it is Weinstein Backpulver) contains just cream of tartar and bicarbonate of soda - no phosphate, unlike other baking powders. This is particularly important to know when baking a lot for you and your young family. Too much phosphate can weaken the bones, especially dangerous for children if calcium intake is low at the same time. Phosphate is often found in non organic meat and sausages to give its the red colour while organic meat looks a rather natural grey. Carefully read the ingredients lists on packages when shopping for you and your family.
Use 20g Gluten Free Cream of Tartar Baking Powder for 500g flour. Mix well. Use for all baking situations when baking powder is required. For our German customers: it is Weinstein Backpulver.
