What makes our goat milk formula special?

Gentle on sensitive tummies
The special protein composition of goat milk, which contains only A2 protein, ensures smaller, softer curds that cow’s milk, that break down more easily in the tummy and can therefore be absorbed more easily by baby’s sensitive digestive system.

A natural source of oligosaccharides & palmitic acid
Oligosaccharides have prebiotic and anti-pathogenic properties. Goat's milk naturally has 4-10 x higher numbers of oligosaccharides compared to cow’s milk. Goat's milk is also naturally high in palmitic acid, a fatty acid important for development.

Biodynamic whole milk
By using biodynamic whole goat milk as the main ingredient and fat source, Holle’s formulas have a naturally creamy taste and a lower content of vegetable oils. Demeter certification ensures the milk is free from harmful chemicals and residues, while the animals are raised with care and respect - reflected in the exceptional quality of the milk.

Demeter

Much more than organic

Demeter certification has the most demanding guidelines. It not only complies with but also goes well beyond all EU and UK organic guidelines. For example:

  • Animals have access to fresh air & biodynamic / organic feed or grass 365 days of the year
  • The horns of animals are considered to be an important sensory and communication organ, which is why they must not be removed

Demeter quality is therefore much more than organic quality. It’s food of the highest quality!

Family-founded & owned organic baby food company

Holle has led the way in biodynamic baby products since 1934. As the first Demeter-certified producer of baby and infant food, their range spans infant formula, weaning porridges, meals, finger foods, and drinks. For over 90 years, Holle has remained committed to sustainability and social responsibility, always mindful of their duty to future generations.

  • Procure seasonal, premium raw ingredients
  • Promote healthy nutrition from the very beginning with age-appropriate recipes developed inline with nutritional recommendations
  • Maintain long-term, fair partnerships with farmers and growers
  • Go far beyond the stringent requirements of the baby food sector
  • Strictest testing procedures and cutting-edge analytical methods throughout the entire process

Where does Holle's goat milk come from & why is it the most sustainable formula?

Not all goat milk is the same. Holle’s goat milk comes from small Demeter farms in Germany. Holle offer their farmers long-term contracts, helping to ensure long-term stability and profitability for the farms.

In addition, biodynamic farming makes an important contribution to the climate: Demeter remains the oldest ecological certification organisation in the world. It's farm standard has always been a regenerative agriculture standard. Biodynamic farms have been sequestering carbon for almost 100 years and have never allowed the use of any chemical nitrogen fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides.

A visit to two of Holle’s demeter goat farms

Lindenhof Farm, Black Forest, Germany

One of Holle’s Demeter goat farms is Lindenhof farm in the southern Black Forest. Dairy goat farming is a key business area for the Burkhard family. Demeter farmer Florian grows the feed for the animals himself, with the hay and grass silage grown in his own meadows. The species-appropriate husbandry focuses on giving the animals ample space for grazing and exercise on 365 days, allowing natural reproduction and no dehorning. In addition, the goats get lots of strokes from the whole family.

Jockenhof Farm, South Germany

Brothers and young entrepreneurs Matthias and Alexander Weber of Jockenhof farm in Elzach decided in 2012 at the ages of 22 and 19 to start farming organic dairy goats together. They started out with 35 goat kids – today, some 450 goats live on the farm. In addition to the partially covered exercise area in front of the barn, the goats have access to around five hectares of pasture from April to October. The goats are milked twice a day. The roof of the barn and the machine hall are also equipped with a photovoltaic system so that they can generate their own electricity.
